World no.2 Novak Djokovic needed just 70 minutes to open his title defence on Wednesday, defeating Spain’s Marcel Granolleres 6-2, 6-0, to reach the third round of the Shanghai Rolex Masters.
Novak won 81% per cent of his first service points, converted five of his 10 break point opportunities and saved all three break points he faced.

The 26-year-old Djokovic is attempting to capture his fifth tour-level title of the year (4-2 overall record) this week. He improved to a 58-9 season record.
Novak will next challenge world no.17 Fabio Fognini (5-0 H2H). The Italian advanced when Tommy Robredo was forced to retire from their match with a wrist injury. Fognini had been leading 7-6(3), 2-1.
