Second seed Novak Djokovic continued his perfect run at this year’s US Open when he defeated Bernabe Zapata Miralles 6-4, 6-1, 6-1 to reach the third round on Wednesday.
The 36-year-old Serbian star was impressive against the Spaniard, saving all six break points he faced to advance after two hours and two minutes.
Dokovic broke once in the first set, three times in the second, and twice in the third.
Match statistics: aces (5-2), double faults (0-2), winners (34-15), unforced errors (22-22), total points won (92-59).
Novak will next meet compatriot Laslo Djere (H2H 1-0) who defeated Hugo Gaston in straight sets – 6-1, 6-2, 6-3.
He now holds a 40-5 record on the season.
