World no.1 continued his clay-court season at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia on Friday, when he defeated Corentin Moutet 6-3, 6-1 to reach the third round in Rome. He plays Alejandro Tabilo (CHI, 29) next.
Novak completes straight-sets win in Rome opener
Novak advanced into the third round, defeating Argentine Tomas Martin Etcheverry 7-6 (5) 6-2 at the ATP Masters 1000 event. Next up is Grigor Dimitrov (BUL, 26, H2H 10-1).
Novak leads Italian Open field
The ATP Masters 1000 tournament takes place from May 8 to May 15 at Foro Italico in Rome. As a top seed, Novak has a first round BYE. He will open his campaign in R2 against world no.34 Aslan Karatsev (RUS, H2H 1-1).
Italian Open: Nole blitzes Davidovich Fokina to reach QFs
Defending champion advanced to the the quarter-finals of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia, following a convincing 6-2, 6-1 victory over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in 70 minutes. Novak will face fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas on Friday.
