The 2025 Australian Open official draw took place on Thursday.

Novak, a record-extending ten-time AO champion, is a seventh seed. He will open the campaign against Nishesh Basavareddy from the USA (ATP no. 133).

In the second round, Djokovic will play against the winner of the match between Pavel Kotov (BUL) and a qualifier.

The earliest seed he could meet is no.26, Tomas Machac (CZE), in round three, or he could face Reilly Opelka (USA) in that stage of the competition.

Novak’s potential rivals in the later stages of the tournament:

Fourth round: Grigor Dimitrov (BUL, 10), Jiri Lehecka (CZE, 24)
Quarter-finals: Carlos Alcaraz (ESP, 3), Jack Draper (GBR, 15), Sebastian Korda (USA, 22)
Semi-finals: Alexander Zverev (GER, 2), Casper Ruud (NOR, 6)

Final: Jannik Sinner (ITA, 1), Daniil Medvedev (RUS, 5), Andrey Rublev (RUS, 9), Holger Rune (DEN, 13)

Last year, he fell to Jannik Sinner in the semi-final, 1-6, 2-6, 7-6 (6), 3-6.

The year’s first Grand Slam tournament starts on January 12 (Sunday).
