Fourth seed Jannik Sinner recorded his first ever win over Novak Djokovic 7-5, 6-7, 7-6, to hand the world no.1 his first loss since Wimbledon. The defending champion will look to book his place in the last four when he meets alternate Hubert Hurkacz in the final round-robin match on Thursday.
Novak clinched his record-extending eighth year-end no.1 finish when he defeated eighth seed Holger Rune 7-6, 6-7, 6-3 in his opening match at the Nitto ATP Finals.
The draw ceremony for the 2023 Nitto ATP Finals has been made on Thursday afternoon. In his 16th appearance at the prestigious event, Novak will attempt to win a record seventh title. He lifted the ATP Finals trophy in 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2022.

Novak began his quest for a record-equalling sixth Nitto ATP Finals title with a straight sets victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas. The seventh seed dictated the contest perfectly to clinch his ninth consecutive win over the Greek 6-4, 7-6 (4). The match lasted one hour and 37 minutes.
