Serbia falls in semi-final, gets wildcard for 2022 DC Finals

Novak did double duty in the Davis Cup semis on Friday, but it was not enough to give a victory to the 2010 champions Serbia. Gojo won the opening singles rubber against Lajovic 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Nole leveled the tie beating Marin Cilic 6-4, 6-2, but in the deciding doubles, the world no.1 pair Mektic/Pavic defeated Djokovic and Krajinovic 7-5, 6-1.

Serbian and world no.1 enjoyed two comfortable wins on Saturday, during the second weekend of the Adria Tour, in Zadar. Novak beat Pedja Krstin and Borna Coric and qualified for the final.

The second leg of the charity event is taking place in Croatia’s coastal resort on June 20-21. World no.1 Novak Djokovic leads the field, joined by Alexander Zverev, Grigor Dimitrov, Borna Coric, Marin Cilic, Andrey Rublev, as well as Pedja Krstin and Danilo Petrovic, finalists of the HTS tournament.

Novak and Nenad Zimonjic beat Franko Skugor and Marin Draganja 6-3, 6-4, 6-1 to give the 2010 Davis Cup winner an unassailable 3-0 lead in the tie. Serbia will play against Argentina (away) in quarter-final (17-19 July).
