Novak earned a semi-final spot following a 6-3, 7-6 (4) win over Alexander Zverev (GER, 6). For a place in the final, the top seed will face third-seeded Austrian Dominic Thiem on Saturday at 15:00 CET.
Third seed Roger Federer defeated no.2 seed Novak 6-4, 6-3 to reach the last four at the Nitto ATP Finals. The Serb, who has won the season finale title five times, will finish the year as world no.2.
Djokovic defeated fifth-seeded Marin Cilic 7-6 (7), 6-2 on Friday to finish Group Guga Kuerten with a perfect 3-0 record. He will take on the South African on Saturday at 20:00 local time (21:00 CET) for a spot in the Nitto ATP Finals championship match
