Novak continued his quest for a 19th Grand Slam title as he completed a comeback from two-sets-to-love down on Monday for a place in the French Open quarter-finals.
The world no.1 progressed after three hours and 27 minutes of play on Court Philippe-Chatrier, when Lorenzo Musetti retired at 6-7 (7), 6-7 (2), 6-1, 6-0, 4-0. In his 49th career major quarterfinal, Novak will take on ninth seed Matteo Berrettini.

The top seed dismissed Uruguay’s Pablo Cuevas 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 in two hours and six minutes. For a place in the last 16, Novak will face Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania (ATP #93, H2H 3-0).

The second Grand Slam event of the season, the Roland Garros, is taking place in Paris, from May 30 to June 13. Top seed and 2016 titlist Novak will open his 2021 French Open campaign against world no.66 Tennys Sandgren (USA, H2H 3-0).
