The top seed will next take on fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas (GRE) who defeated Andrey Rublev (RUS, 13) in straight sets.
Novak downs Khachanov to reach 11th consecutive French Open QFs
Nole produced another solid win when he beat no.15 seed Karen Khachanov (RUS) 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 to advance into his 14th Roland Garros quarter-finals. For a spot in the last four, the top seed will play Pablo Carreno Busta (ESP, 17).
