Nole continued his quest for a fourth title in Madrid with a comfortable 6-3, 6-4 win over 12th seed Hubert Hurkacz. For a place in the Masters 1000 tournament final, Novak will face the Next Gen ATP World Tour Finals titlist Carlos Alcaraz (ESP, 7) on Saturday at 16:00 CET.

Serbia is through to the Davis Cup semis following a comeback 2-1 win over Kazakhstan. Kukushkin clinched the opening point beating Kecmanovic 7-6, 4-6, 7-6.
